Coming Back

It has been a really long time since I have posted anything. I like to think of it as an extended summer vacation! I am not promising much because right now my life is in full caios mode! Between kids, husband, day to day stuff, yw calling, PTA, and training for a half marathon, I can barely keep my head above water. I would really love to find time to give all the details of my summer, but I'm not sure that will happen. Will see what I find time to post.

For now, just a few updates:

*Best news ever, my little brother is Cancer free and doing well - Hurray! Thanks to all of you who kept him and his family in your prayers!

*My nephew Chris is in training to be a Marine. He graduates in October. I am so proud of him and am thankful for his willingness to protect our country.

*Dave is rocking his school. Every class session he tells me, "this is the class that is going to bring down my GPA". Big fat liar, he is a straight A student and only has one more class until he is done, well that is if he doesn't decide to further his college education. Not sure that will happen right away, I think he is geting burned out plus his job is extremley stressful these days. Still I am super proud of him for his accomplishment. Way to go!!

*Kassy entered the Miss Teen Utah Pageant and made it to the top 150. Her pageant is this Saturday. Congratulations Kassy! I will let you know how she does. Her dress is beautiful, her shoes are insanely spikey, and she looks so darn grown up and gorgeous that I think to myself, "there is no way that is my kid." I am proud of her for going out of her comfort zone and trying something different. Saturday should be an exciting day!

*Jessy is messy as ever - lol. That girl can destroy a room faster than you can shake a stick. Still I love her to pieces. She is doing well in school and is a social butterfly. Her favorite thing to do is have playdates. She is still in gymnastics and recently moved up a level. She can almost do her back handspring by herself. She is a BYU fan, but I keep telling her that she should be a UTES gymnast. Will see what happens.

*Cody is RED through and through. He loves the UTES and is super excited to go watch the football teams private practice and then eat dinner with them. However, he is not a big fan of going to the football games, they are way to long for his liking. He is playing soccer and is doing really great this year. No goal yet, but we still have a bunch of games to go. After soccer is over he thinks he might like to give Karate a try. hmmmm! He is really smart, but struggles going to school. He says it's because he wants to stay home with me.

*Me, I am trying to stay a float. I kind of gave my rundown of craziness above. I ran a marathon relay a few weeks ago. It was a kick. I can't say that I love running, but I love the way I feel after I am done and I love running with my friend Sandra, she busts me up. Maybe one day I will be able to talk to her while we run, but for now she carries on the conversation for both of us. We are training for the Halloween Half Marathon in October, I am really excited for this challenge, but am also very nervous.

Those are just a few of the highlights. I will try to catch up more later. For now I've got a hundred plus things I've got to get done!

Glad to be back!

Computer Issues

I haven't blogged in awhile! It's not because I haven't had lots to blog about, it's because I was in Lake Powell for just under a week and then when I got home, my computer decided to act up and be weird. Just fyi, if you try to send me an email, I probably won't get it, not sure what's going on with it. Anyway, I don't have a lot of time tonight, have to get dinner and be a mom, but I will catch up these next few weeks. Lots and LOTS going on. Gotta love summer time!

Eclipse Review - two thumbs up!

Eclipse was my favorite book of the Twilight Saga, and now it is my favorite movie. I absolutely loved it. It followed the book pretty well and covered most of my favorite parts. There were a few things that they left out, that I wished they would have put in, but on a whole, I thought it was great. Like I've said before, my favorite part in the book was the tent scene, and I think that was my favorite part in the movie as well!

If you haven't bought the soundtrack, run to the nearest store and get it, it's got some great music on it and fit the movie perfectly. It's my favorite soundtrack of the three as well!

Hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did, and yes, I will be going to see it again - SOON! Anyone wanna come?

Just In Case

Just in case I don't have time to blog after my 5:30pm showing of Eclipse, I thought I would blog now. That's right, I said 5:30pm that is in 2 1/2 hours. Hurray, Hurray it's Eclipse movie day. I'm sure I'll have lots to say about it tomorrow.

Missing Blog Post

I really did blog yesterday, I just happened to post it on the River 4th Ward YW Blog Site. It was applicable to most of the girls though, because like me they are anxiously awaiting the movie Eclipse. Which I just so happen to be going to see tomorrow night at a 5:30pm showing. Thanks to my friend Denza! Oooo, I am so excited, Eclipse was my favorite book in the series.

Recently a friend of mine was asked why she liked the Twilight series. The lady said, "it's not like it teaches you anything." To that I say, you are right, it didn't really "teach" me anything, I just enjoyed the escape from reality for a moment, ok more like alot of moments. The thing I liked most about the series is the connection I found in some really great friends, that I might have otherwise not connected with. To that I say, thank you Stephanie Meyer and the Twilight Saga.

On a non Twilight subject, I finished Cody's room this morning at 2:30am. I couldn't sleep last night, but since it was Sunday, I knew I shouldn't be painting. I stayed up and read my book "DARK FLAME", which by the way was fabulous, and at 12:01, I pulled out the paintbrushes and began painting. This morning when I got up, everything was dry so I was able to put his room back together. It looks so awesome! We still have a few things to touch up, and I promised him we would hang his Utes stuff, as well as paint all of his furniture black, but that'll have to wait for another day. For now, all I can say is, "Whew, I am glad that is done, and go UTES!"

Boating

Dave and I both grew up going boating, Dave on a boat that had an engine and me on one that you had to paddle. I really enjoyed river running as a kid, but once I met Dave and discovered the joy of the engine type boat, I was hooked.

For all the times that we have gone boating over the course of our marriage, I've never had to drive. We've always gone with someone else, or someone has gone with us that drove when Dave skied. Not today, I had to drive, and boy did I do a ...... TERRIBLE Job! I won't go into a lot of details, but I will say this, Dave was frustrated, but luckily he didn't yell to much at me once I explained that I had never learn to drive the boat. He just said, "well I guess it's time you learn." Luckily for me the water was crappy so he wasn't to upset by not being able to wake board. Stupid wind!

The girls enjoyed riding on the tube, and I got to wake board for the second time on my board that I got 3 1/2 year ago. Cody decided that he would wait for Lake Powell to ride the tube, silly boy. He is more the helper type than the riding type. He was more concerned making sure that we got the rope pulled in or thrown out, bringing in the wake boards when we were done and getting things out, or put away.

All in all it was a fun day, now we are all beat and ready for bed!

WELCOME HOME Kassy, so glad she is back safe and sound, and had a great time at girls camp.

Painting "blues"

What was I thinking, I hate to paint. It is time consuming as well as being a pain in the but! The walls, ceiling, and trim around the doors and window are all done. The crown mold has it's first coat on it, hopefully it'll only take two coat. All I really have left is the floor boards, but I hate them the very most, that's why they are what I have left to do. Hopefully it'll be finished tomorrow so we can get Cody back in his room. He is struggling with not being able to sleep in his bed.

Truthfully I shouldn't be calling this entry Painting "blues" cause his room is bright U of U red. I'll post a picture when it's all done, if it ever gets done!

Hurray, Kassy gets home from girls camp tomorrow. I miss her lots!

Summer Fun

Night before last my niece Bailee slept over, Jessy was in Heaven. We decided to make the night extra fun by going "camping" in the back yard. Dave got a new tent for Father's Day which just happened to fit perfectly on our deck leading into the house. We had a fire in the fire pit, and I made indoor SMoREs. It was just like being camping. Dave grumbled about it at first, but after finishing homework, he came and joined us at the campfire.

The kids were a bit nervous about sleeping outside by themselves, so I told them I would join them, on the hard deck - oh boy! I came inside and watched The Bachlorette, (which by the way I am totally loving this season, but that's for another day) thinking that they would come in shortly and want to sleep in the house, but no one did. So after my show was over I grabbed my blanket and found my a not so comfy spot at the bottom of every ones feet. I'm not sure who it was harder on, me who kept getting kicked and thrown covers on by the kids, or Kalea who didn't know where to go so she ended up laying by the screen door. For the most part the kids slept good, Jessy was the only one who even got up to see if I had come to join them for the camping adventure.

In the morning when I got up, I could barely turn my neck, it was so stiff. After working out a few creaks and laying on the heating pad for an hour, it was 6:00am when I got up cause it was so bright in the tent, I was able to get moving. The kids had a blast and asked if we could do it again that night. I laughed and said, "not tonight, but we'll do it again". Next time I might let Dave join them and I'll sleep in the comfy bed. Probably not, these are the things that will stick with my kids forever, at least I hope, spending time together, doing crazy, fun things as a family!

Here's a few pictures from our camp out!

Indoor SmoRes - Not as good as the real things, but still yummy!

Dave and Cody hanging out around the "camp fire".

Crazy tent sleeping fools. Karey, Cody, Kassy, Jessy and Bailee.

The tent door and the screen door met together perfectly!

Getting ready for bed. Kassy, Bailee, Jessy, and Cody.

Now for More Summer Fun.
So I no I said in one of my recent posts that I wouldn't be doing any painting in my kids rooms for a long time. However, Cody has kept his room fairly clean, so today we decided o start painting. He wants a University of Utah room. We recently aquired a bunch of U of U stuff, thanks to a neighbor, Helen - thanks, as well as a U of U signed by the team football. I figured we better get it done before the stuff gets lost or ruined.
I always buy my paint at Home Depot, but Smith's Marketplace had their paint on sale. I thought that black, white, and red were simple enough colors that it would be fine. Boy was I wrong, the black and white were ok, but when we started painting the walls red, I thought Cody was going to have a heart attack, they looked pink! I had told the guy that I thought the color looked pink at the store, but he told me it would be fine onece it dried - NOT TRUE! We called Smiths and they said we could bring it back, so we did! We then ran to Home Depot, who just happen to have a football team colors paint listing. We got UofU Red. Just fyi, red is a really hard color to have not look pink. Cody was nervous, because after the first coat it still looked pretty pink, but as it started drying it looked more and more red. Now will have to wait and see what it looks like tomorrow when we get the second coat on. I'll post some pictures when it's done. For now, here are pictures of my painting helpers, I couldn't have gotten so much done tonight without their help - lol!

Girls Camp

Kassy is already for girls camp, she packed everything herself, all I had to do was pick up a few things. She is getting so grown up, it makes me cry! We spent the last 3 hours french braiding her hair, it looks super cute, but my hands are numb now. I can't believe she is going without me, not only amnI jealous that she is going and I am not, I will miss her around the house. She is a great helper and does a lot to help me out. She is super excited though, because her dad gets to come up and help out as one of the Priesthood leaders. Lucky Dave!

I'm really sad not to be going to girls camp this year. When I was released from Young Women's a few months back, I told the bishopric that they could release me, but I still got to go to girls camp. Unfortunately that isn't the case.

Girls camp is one of my favorite places. I love hanging with the girls, being in the mountains, singing the songs, eating yummy food, being silly, playing practical jokes, and proving that we girls have got what it takes to get things done. However, my most favorite part about girls camp is the feeling you get while you are there, there is nothing like it. The spirit is so strong, you can't help but feel it. It's as if girls camp helps make the gospel true, does that make sense?

Shout out to "my girls", I hope you realize you will always be me girls, HAVE A GREAT TIME AT CAMP! I will miss you and I love you TONS. Be kind to Dave while he is up there, he is a bit nervous!

Swim Day

Today the kids and I went to Gene Fullmer and spent the day swimming and sunning. It was tons of fun.

Jessy is a fish, she can't get enough of the water. Tricks are her favorite thing to do, and she is not content to just hang out in the shallow end. Today not only did she swim everywhere with one of her friends that happened to be at the pool as well, she jumped off the diving board, both low and high! Way to go Jessy.

Cody is still a bit intimidated by the pool, but he does great in the shallow end. He wants to make sure I watch everyone of his tricks. Every few minutes he would yell out, "mom, watch this." Kassy and I counted, in a 10 minute period of time he said, "mom" 15 times. He did work on floating on his back, he's almost got it. Just lacking a little in the confidence department. I'm sure he'll get it soon.

Kassy is getting to be more like me, she'd just as soon sit on the side and catch a few rays. Her summer tan is coming along nicely. Yea, just in time for a family vacation to Lake Powell were catching rays is a MUST. She does however still like to go take a refreshing dip to cool off from time to time. It was fun to have a buddy on the sideline to keep track of the other two.

All in all it was a great day. Gotta love a day at the pool!

These are a few of my favorite DADS!

I am lucky to be surrounded by a lot of really great dads. Happy Fathers Day to them as well as to all the dads out there. This is Dave's dad Mike, along with his daughter Stacey and his grandson Brody. Mike is one of the most giving people I know. He would give you the shirt off his back as well as anything else you might need. He is a fabulous grandpa, and is affectionately known to my kids as the "big grandpa". I am grateful to him for his support and his acceptance of me.

My brother- in-law Clay, who is married to Dave's sister Stacey, is the quiet type, but when he does say something, you better be listening because it is worth hearing! He has the magic touch with the babies, even when they aren't his own. Shortly after this picture was taken, he had Brody asleep.

At first glance you might think this is Dave surrounded by his kids, but nope this is Dave's look alike brother Brian. Brian is like the pide piper, he's always finding something that keeps the kids following right behind him.

This is my little brother Jared and his sweet baby girl Harlow. Jared is my baby brother and like I've said before, I feel this need to protect him. Don't mess with him or you'll have to deal with me, my sister, my older brother, and lots of other people who are instantly drawn to him by his magnetic personality. I pray he'll get better soon so that he can enjoy the happiness of being a dad.

This isn't a great picture of my big brother and my brother-in-law Mike, but by the time I realized I got the wrong one, it was to late to change it. Anyway you get the "picture". Mike is the one on the left. He is always willing to help me and loves my kids like they were his own. What do I say about my brother Kelly, the one on the right. Kelly is a great big brother, he has a big heart, big dreams, and is a great dad to his kids.

This is one of my favorite dads, Dave! Although there are days I'd like to ring his neck, along with the kids, I can't imagine my life without him. His patience with us all sometimes runs thin, but I know that's only because he is so concerned with making sure that we have everything we need. His concern runs deep for not only his immediate family, but for his extended family, as well as for anyone that may be in need. That is one of the things I love about him the most.

Last but not least, my dad, ROGER. Affectionately known to me as "Rog" (thanks for letting me call you that dad) and to my kids, the "little grandpa". My dad has always been there for me and continues to do so. Some of my favorite memories of my dad are:
* Telling me stories about Flara Frog and Timmy Turtle.
*Singing songs to me as he rocked me in our creaky rocking chair - Favorite "Sweet Violets".
*Going on hikes and him telling me the names of all the trees.
*Riding the rapids down the green river and snake river in the CUROG - that was the name of our rubber raft.
* Best hugs ever.
* Knowing he would be waiting up for me when I got home late - except for that one night when he fell asleep then came bursting into my room at 2:00am demanding to know where I had been, funny thing, I had been in bed since 11:00pm.
*A supportive shoulder to cry on.
And the list goes on. Most of all I am just grateful that Heavenly Father sent me to him, he truly is the greatest dad ever!

SLOBS!!

I live with a bunch of SLOBS!!!!! I'm not sure I can say anything more about this topic because it makes me so ANGRY! Seriously, how hard is it to make your bed, put your dirty clothes in the hamper - that is in your room sitting right next to the pile of dirty clothes!!! What about throwing away wrappers, or rinse off your dish and put it in the dishwasher when you are done eating. Generally the toilet seat gets closed, but is it to much to ask to flush the toilet after your done. ARGH!!! My list goes on and on but as I said before this topic just makes me ANGRY, so I better stop before I blow a gasket.

On a positive note, I won't have to paint bedrooms any time soon. Let me explain, I told my kids that I would paint their rooms when they could keep them clean for two weeks. That was last SUMMER!

Seriously, why is it so hard for kids to pick after themselves, why, why, why???

Deal of the Day

Today Cody and I went to Home Depot to get some rocks for one of my flower beds, while we were there a guy was marking down some of the flowers. We got to gigantic flower pots that fit over the deck railings. They were regularly $32.97 and we got them for $5.00. Such an awesome deal that we bought two. They need a little bit of TLC, but I'm sure with some dead heading, watering, and plant food, they'll be even more gorgeous then they are now. They are filled with purple petunias, pink geraniums, and a mini whitish/purplish daisy!

After placing my great deal flowers on my railing, I spent the rest of the day working in my yard. I love digging in the dirt and making things look beautiful! Love Flowers!

I love those days when you actually feel like you accomplished something. These are a few of the things I have gotten done today.

* Cleaned Cody's room
* Washed downstairs bathroom
* Played a quick game of indoor basketball with Cody
* Took flowers to loved one's graves
* Picked up Dave's Father's Day present
* Bought some flowers to plant in my front flower bed, can't wait to plant them
* Went to the Library
* Picked up table clothes for a Relief Society Dinner
* Picked up Dave's and Jessy's prescription
* Made six layer magic cookie bars
* Blogged

Now I am heading out to go set up for the Relief Society Dinner. What a great day!

Reinvinting the Wheel

Isn't it crazy that we have to make our own mistakes, that we just can't learn by the mistakes of others? Many things in my life would have been easier had I not had to reinvent the wheel and listened to what others who had "been there, done that" had told me.

I'm not super "old", but I have learned a thing or two through out the years, things that I wished others would take heed to, it would make their lives a lot easier. I wish I would have learned from others mistakes, but nope, I had to reinvent that darn wheel! Sometimes it caused me a lot of unnecessary grief.

I am grateful to my "elders" and to those who have "been there, done that", that giveme advice. I take their advice far more seriously now and in many instances it has been a great blessing that has made things easier for me.

My advice tonight is, take heed to the counsel of others who might have been in similar situations and use it to help better your life and help reduce unneeded STRESS and ANIEXTY!

My chemotherapy definition:

CHEMOTHERAPY: A bunch of medicine dripped into ones body, that is going to make you feel like crap, in hopes that it will help you get better.

As some of you may know, my baby brother was diagnosed with Cancer 2 weeks before his new baby girl was born (5 1/2 weeks ago). He had surgery to remove the cancer, but unfortunately when he had his ultrasound and cat scan, they found cancer in his lung and a lymph node. Two days after Harlow was born, he began Chemo. He entered his 4th week of Chemo this week. His doctor is very optimistic, but that doesn't change the fact that chemo makes him feel like crap.

Today I was the lucky one, I truly mean that, that got to go sit with him while the chemo dripped into his body making him feel terrible. It broke my heart to see his bald head, even though he looks good with no hair, and how worn down he looks. The highlight of the day was when I got to take him home and see how happy he was when he got to see his "girls". What a blessing they are in his life!

There was a time in my life when I felt a great need to torment my little brother, now I feel this overwhelming need to take care of him, I guess that's what big sisters do, on both accounts.

Please pray for my little brother. This week has been hard on him, and I know he and his little family have many more difficult weeks ahead.

LOVE YOU Jared!

When does school start????

We started the morning off great. I went to the chiropractor, had a massage, it was a slice of HEAVEN. The kids were good while I was gone, so I took them to the nickel-arcade, they had a blast and ended up with over 600 tickets - oh the stress of deciding what cheap prizes to get with those tickets. After the arcade we ran to the grocery store, it got a little crazy, but still they were being ok so we bought Popsicle's. I don't know what happened from the time we left the grocery store to when we got home, but all HELL broke loose and it's been that way ever since.

Thank Heavens, everyone is in bed!

Home at Last

It's fun to get away, but it's always good to be home. What a crazy weekend. Dave was able to book us flights to Denver and get us a rental "truck" so that we could pick up doors at the BMC West Denver location. The whole thing sounded easy enough, but it WASN'T. After having are flight delayed 2 times, we finally made it in the air. Denver had been experiencing awful weather all day and we were lucky to even get on a flight. Once we got there, well after 11:00,pm we were able to pick up our luggage, on the 1 and only carousel that they had going for 6 or so flights. Denver's airport is gigantic. I was glad not to be there by myself, I would have gotten lost for sure. We got our rental car with out to much difficulty, and headed out to find a hotel for the night. The winds and rain were unbelievable, we found out the next morning that Denver had 12 tornado's form, one of them being directly over the airport, several of them forming right behind our hotel. The airport had been closed for a time, needless to say we were lucky to have made it at all.

The next day we began our drive home. It to was an adventure. The temperatures that we encountered ranged from 35 to 65 degrees. The weather was CRAZY, we ran into rain, wind, snow, sun, and extreme rain! At one time Dave had the windshield wipers going as fast as they would go, and it still wasn't fast enough! Their was large puddles of water on the roads, and streams running all over. I was pretty sure that as we were driving along side the Colorado River, I could see it raising.I was really glad when we made it into MOAB, the rain had stopped and the temperature was 63 degrees. Rather than continuing on we stayed in MOAB for the night. It was nice not to be in the car, or in a huge rush. We enjoyed a relaxing dinner and wondered the shops for a bit before heading back to our room to sleep!!! Dave slept so good he even snored a little, don't tell him I said that - lol.

This morning we began the final stretch home. Pretty sure we made record time, I'm not going to say how fast cause that might get us into trouble. There was seriously NO radio stations so I gave my Ipod to Dave and took a nap. I don't think I've ever been so glad to see I15, even with all it's construction. Finally we made it home, we got the rental truck returned and came home and took naps. I was seriously exhausted from sitting in the car doing nothing. The kids all got along and all seemed right with the world, at least for a short little time of it!

Thanks again to our dads who stepped into the role of care takers for the kids. We are super lucky to have such great families who are willing to do anything for us. We love you all!

Now, it's back to the real world....got to go make some dinner!

Last Minute

Dave has to fly to Denver for work in a couple of hours and I get to go with him. We are renting a truck and driving home tomorrow. Lucky that we have are great dads who are coming to stay with the kids with no notice.

Here's to an adventure!

Cute Movie

Took the kids to see Marmaduke today. If you are looking for a cute movie, that is fun for kids and adults, this one is it. I highly recomend it. We went to the 10:35 am showing and had the theatre all to ourselves - Bonus

Thanks to our cousins for the invite!

By the way, I finished the Short Second Life of Bree Tanner today - loved it!

Bree Tanner

I have to admit I was a bit disappointed when I heard that Stephanie Meyer was releasing a new book, and it wasn't Midnight Sun. At first I said that I wasn't going to read her upcoming book, but come on get real, I knew I would buy it and read it as soon as it came out, and I did!

I have read about 3/4 of it and honestly I like it. It gives you a whole new perspective of Stephanie's "vampires" and how Victoria planned her attack on Bellan and the Cullen's. It makes me kind of sad that I already know what is going to become of Bree, especially now that she has become a "real" character to me, one I am kind of liking. Stephanie Meyer herself said that she wished she would have ended things differently for Bree. Oh well, what do you do? Oh I know, you release Midnight Sun so I can have even more Twilight to obsess over! Hahaha

Gotta love that darn Twilight Series. 19 more days until Eclipse comes out!!!

My momma always said....

My momma always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." That's why I haven't posted in over a week, I haven't had a lot of nice things to say.

I am praying that things will turn around and all will be "nice" in my world so I can blog again!

Really???

Is it really Memorial Day Weekend? How did that happen?

So Catty

I believe that Junior High girls are the very worst! The meanest, most emotional, awkward, sensitive, moody, back stabbing, back talking, and just down right nasty. Some girls are worse than others, and just for the record, I don't exclude my own daughter from some of the items, depending on the day.

I have heard from more than one person that Kassy so called cheated to win her SBO election. The kids are supposed to make posters and give a speech, they aren't supposed to hand out treats or anything else during the week. Kassy hung her posters with green duct tape. She gave a half a dozen of her friends pieces of duct tape, not as a bribe, cause really what kind of bribe is green duct tape, but because they wanted a piece. I guess some might see that as passing out "something" to further your campaign, but come on, duct tape, are they serious?! Some of these same kids that are complaining about the duct tape are also saying that Kassy sent out a text saying, "don't vote for .....". Here's my take on that, first, I asked Kassy and she said she didn't. Second, I can check Kassy's messages to see if there is an outgoing text like that, and third, she knows that if I found out she did send a message like that out I would take her phone away so fast her head would spin. All in all the entire thing makes me sad.

I'm not saying Kassy is perfect, see above comment, she did make some mean remarks about one of the girls posters being "CUTE/Girly". She and I have already discussed how inappropriate and rude those comments were.

The craziest thing to me about all of this is that these kids are going to have to work together as SBO's next year.
I am truly sorry to the kids that were offended by Kassy passing out her pieces of duct tape. I can't imagine that it really swayed people, and I know she didn't do it to "cheat". She really didn't see the harm in a few pieces of green tape. As for the text message, if anyone can prove to me that she sent one, I'd really like to see it. So far no one has been able to come up with this text.

The craziest thing to me about all of this is that these kids are going to have to work together as SBO's next year. Isn't getting along, helping build unity at the school, and being an example to others what being an SBO is all about? I hope these kids can put all of this behind them and be great SBO's next school year. This is the time of their lives that they should be enjoying, not bickering over a few pieces of tape, who's poster is to"cute/girly", or who had the ballet box stuffed in their favor. Enjoy these days of youth because they disappear way to FAST!

Junior High - I truly believe that if you can make it through these years of your life, you can make it threw anything!

AWARE

I've become extremely aware of the fact that I am getting older every day, and quite frankly I'm not very happy about it. I know that there are many out there who would say, "you aren't old, you're just a youngen", but I beg to differ.

After losing both Dave's mom, my mom, and all of my grandparents, I've come to the realization that I am the next generation in my family to "go". The thought kind of terrifies me.

I guess the important thing to do now is to live life to it's fullest. To not put things off, and to enjoy every moment, because you never now when life is going to throw you a curve ball.

Those of you who know my friend Tracy Fischer, and even if you don't know her, please pray for her and her family. Her brother, who would have been 45 this year, died in his sleep the other night. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Curve Ball!

Also, please take a moment to pray for my little brother. He is very sick right now, has a new baby at home, and could use lots of prayers. Curve Ball!

Baby M is here

It's official, Baby M is here. She was born Saturday May 22, 2010 at 10:31. She weighs 7lbs 6oz and is 19in long. She is still waiting for her official name, hopefully we'll know it sometime tonight. Mom, Dad, and Baby are all doing good.

Shanon and Baby M at the baby shower!
Introducing Baby M! Isn't she adorable?!

So cute. Look at that perfect little face.

A picture I never thought I would take. Jared and his baby girl. She's got him wrapped around her finger already!
Welcome to the family!!!

On her way

I posted this yesterday, but accidentally put it on our YW Blog. It still counts as yesterdays post, right?

Baby "M" should be making her 1st appearance sometime tonight. I am so excited to meet her. Knowing where her spirit is coming from makes me even more excited. I am pretty sure that Nana is having a hard time saying good bye to her, covering her with hugs and kisses, before sending her off to meet her new dad, Nana's baby boy, Jared.Welcome Baby M, we can't wait to meet you!Still can't believe my little brother is going to be a dad!

Survived

What a day. Who knew that going to the zoo could literally wipe you out. I feel as if I have been run over by a bus. After riding the school bus to the zoo, then waiting for 30 minutes while some technical difficult was taken care of, they couldn't find our reservation, we finally headed into the zoo. I can't say that the kids in my group were terrible, but I did have a few of the more "challenging kids". A couple of the girls in my group were extremely whinny. It was just about 10:00 am when we went in and they started complaining about the fact that they were starving. I passed around licorice, but that only helped for a few minutes. The scheduled plan was that we would meet the other kids and chaperons from 11:30 - 12:30 for lunch. I tried to explain to these girls that that's how it was at school, that they didn't get to go to the lunch room to eat just because they were hungry that there was an assigned time for it. Finally after alot of whining 11:30 came around and we went and ate lunch. After lunch the kids were pretty much done with the zoo, we had seen most of the animals, and decided what they really wanted was to go to the play area. So that's what we did. Funny thing, when we were walking to the play area I stopped and pointed some of the animals out to the kids, one of the "whinny" girls said to me "Why do we keep stopping to look at animals?" I thought it, and wanted to say it, but I didn't......BECAUSE WE ARE AT THE ZOO!!!!! We then spent the next stressful 30 minutes at the play area. Stressful for me because it's really hard to keep track of 6 kids running around a large play area. It would have been less stressful if there was only one entrance into the play are, but there are several. However, the kids had a ball and everyone made it out safely. I then took them to get a treat to pass the last bit of time. Whew!!! That's not where the insanity ended thou, we still had the bus ride home and it was loud and crazy. All I can say is that we don't pay our school teachers near enough! My favorite part of the zoo, besides being done with it, was the new baby elephant - super cute.

Jessy had a great time at Tracy Aviary and is anxious to take us all back to experience the birds. I was sad that I wasn't able to go with her. How dare the school plan field trips on the same day for first and second graders. Then again, probably not very many people have first and second graders the same year. In talking with some of the mom's that went with the second graders, it was every bit as wild as it was with the first graders. Again, teachers should be paid more.

Kassy's posters got put up today and tomorrow she has to give a speech that will be broadcast on the school's TV's. Keeping my fingers crossed for her. She could really use a win!

As some of you may know, Dave hasn't been feeling well. He's had an infection and his medication caused some weird side effects. Just FYI, my recent comments about cancer does not have anything to do with him. I was just venting. However, if you do know someone with cancer, I encourage you to pray for them, pray for their families, and pray for a cure!

Finally, after my stressful day I was able to finish my book today. I have read lots of other books lately that do not involve vampires, and I have really liked them, but deep down I am still obsessed with vampires. They fascinate me, and I can't help but get "sucked" into the vampire world - lol!

Big Day

Tomorrow is a big day for all the kids. Jessy is going to Tracy Aviary, Cody is going to The Zoo, and Kassy's posters go up. As for me, I'll be going crazy, oh wait, I'm already there. Actually, I'm hoping to find a few minutes to read my book.

Loving the weather. Hope the 70's stay around for awhile. I'm starting to not even mind the rain, it's keeping my grass looking fantastic!

SBO Posters

Kassy and I have spent most of the afternoon putting together her SBO posters, which are due tomorrow. We started out at Momentum taking pictures. Next we got the pictures printed at Walgreens. Finally we put it all together. Her slogan is "Climb Higher with KASSY". I'll have to take a picture of her and her poster tomorrow before she goes to school so I can post it. Keep your fingers crossed for her.

Just one more little shout out: I HATE CANCER! Just in case some of you didn't already know that!

The Kids, The Dog, The Husband, and ME

Kassy is running for student body officer at her school. Keep your fingers crossed for a win! She has an awesome campaign slogan, that I can't release until Wednesday when she puts her posters up.

Jessy is a fish. Two weeks ago she was jumping off the edge of the pool to her dad, this weekend she was jumping into the deep end and swimming to the side by her self. Plus, she was doing all sorts of amazing tricks under water.

Cody would play basketball non stop if I'd let him. He loves it when I play horse with him because I always loose. He has a wicked shot from his own personal three point line that he always hits and I always miss!

Kalea was so happy to see us all after her weekend at the "Hotel for Dogs". When I picked her up this morning she gave me the cold shoulder, but after a few minutes she warmed up. Once I got her home she ran all through the house, making sure she stopped at the kids so the could pet her as she went by. Now she won't leave my side.

Dave is doing math homework and getting more frustrated by the minute. Jamie, I hope you are up for the challenge cause you might have a tougher job then last session. I know you he can do it, he just needs to get feeling better and then things will look brighter.

Me, I am grateful for the kids, the dog, and the husband (not in any particular order). They keep me on my toes and make life interesting.

Praying for a nice weekend

Is it to much to ask that this weekend be nice? Come on sunshine, shine bright for me this weekend.

Patience is a Virture

I like to think that I am a pretty patient person. However, when I find myself having to be patient, I realize I might be lacking in this virtue. I hate waiting for results! I need answers immediately, is that to much to ask for?!!

Smack dab in the middle

Have you ever thought to yourself, "things are going just as I planned", and no sooner then you thought it something happens and you find yourself smack dab in the middle of unknowns, changes, why, and what's next? That is how I am feeling today!

Monday is usually my favorite day of the week, but not today. I am glad that today is almost over.

Mother's Day

There are many mom's out there who have helped me get to this point in my life. Thanks for the examples you have been. A quote was given in church today, I think it was by Sherry Dew, it went something like this, "thanks to the mom who bore me, and to all those mom's who bear with me..."

No one ever said the job of being a mother was going to be easy, but it is definitely worth it. Even though my 3 monsters, oops I meant kids, drive me crazy, I couldn't imagine my world without them. To them I say thanks for letting me be your mom.

Here's to my own mom, who I miss more than anything. I am sad that it took me so long to realize how truly amazing she was. I remember thinking when I was younger, "I don't want to be like my mom". Now I think, "If I could be half the person my mom was, I'll be okay."

I am grateful for Dave's mom, for raising such a great son. I wish she could have been around to enjoy the sweet life of being a grandma, she would have been an amazing one! I couldn't have asked for a better Mother-In-Law. Miss her lots.

Happy Mother's Day to all of you fabulous mom's out there.

This is my entry for Saturday, now I am done!

I HATE the BIG "C" word!

Over the past few months I have posted several things that I like, but tonight I'm going to post about something that I HATE! CANCER!

Of all the sick, foul, terrible, horrible words in the English language I think the "C" word is the worst! I hate the "C" word! I hate what it stands for, what it means, and what it takes. It shows no mercy, takes what it wants, and leaves those around it shocked, in pain, and grieving over it's destruction. Does it get any worse than that? I think not.

In this modern world that we live in, why is it that we can't seem to find a cure for such an awful disease, WHY, WHY, WHY?!

This Mother's Day I am Missing my mom, Dave's mom, and my Grandma, who lost their way too short lives to the "C" word.

It's done, it was fun

Tonight was my sister-in-law Shanon's baby shower. Soooo much fun. Details later, I am worn out!

Pregnant

No, it's not me, it's one of my very best friends from Junior High. (Had you all going didn't I?) She has been trying to get pregnant for a REALLY long time, and finally it happened. I am so excited for her and her husband, they are going to make great parents.

We laughed at the fact that my baby is almost 7 and she is just getting started. When her baby is 7, Kassy will be 20, Jessy 15, and Cody 14. Agh, scary on all accounts. To make it even crazier we have a friend that has a 21 year old and an 18 year old right now. She could easily be a grandma by the time my other friends baby is 7.

I use the word "friend" rather than her name because she hasn't told everyone yet, just a select few of her favorite people. I'll give her name up soon.

Again, I am so excited, overjoyed, nervous, concerned, etc, for her as she gets ready to have her first BABY! Crossing our fingers for a BOY, however, she says she doesn't really care as long as it's healthy!

Getting Ready for a Baby Shower

I don't think I've mentioned this in awhile....my brother and his wife are having a baby. She is due next month. Jen and I are giving them a shower on Thursday and it's going to be at my house. I've spent the day with Jen looking for candy bars for a game we are playing and for a gift. Needless to say I didn't get all the things done I wanted to around my house, so now instead of blogging about my weekend I have to go clean. Can't have a dirty house for a party. I'll get to our Park City weekend another day, maybe after the shower is done.

Can't wait for my new niece to be born!!!

Day Off

I had planned on blogging about Park City but, Dave took the day off and so we spent the day together. I figured that was way more important than blogging. Instead of the run down on Park City, here's my run down of today.

1st started the morning off at 5:30 at the gym. By the way, that is a gosh awful hour to do anything, let alone squats and lunges. Next we had breakfast, rollie cakes, and then I got the kids off to school. Kassy's friend Brianna, who's mom drives morning car pool, was sick today so I had to take her to school as well, made for a crazy morning. When I got home Dave had started the laundry and finished cleaning up breakfast. Did a few things around the house then headed out. Stopped at the motorcycle shop, but didn't get what Dave needed there. However, I did see the exact same pair of spy sunglasses that I bought at the snowmobile races for quadruple the price. Yeah for me! Next we picked up lunch at Village Bakery, best sandwiches, we pulled Kassy out of school for lunch and let her join us. After getting her back to school we wondered around RC Willey, and then we went and saw LOSERS, which by the way I really liked. After them movie it was back to normal routine except for Dave stepped in and picked up the kids from school. Once home the craziness begun, Kassy and Lisa to climbing, Jessy to gymnastics, and Cody hang time with dad. On our way home from gymnastics Jessy and I picked up pizza. That pretty much brings me to right now. Kassy just got home from climbing and is eating dinner. We need to have family home evening and then it'll be time to watch Dancing with the Stars. Just FYI I want Nicole and Derrek to win. All in all it has been a great day.

Tomorrow I'll post about Park City.

Boredom Buster

Right after I posted yesterday, Dave came in the house and said, "Everyone get your stuff ready, we are going to Park City for the Night." It wasn't MOAB, however, we had a great time. I'll down load pictures and post more tomorrow!

HELP, I AM BORED

We were supposed to go to Moab this weekend, but unfortunately it didn't pan out. Friends, weather, dog, and where to stay all played a role in why we didn't go. Now I am sitting around, doing nothing, being Bored.

Seriously besides going to movies and out to eat what is there to do? I know there is more to do, but apparently I have lose track of what it is. I've decided I've become a pretty boring person because I can't come up with anything. At least when it's warm there are a few more options, but right now the word that comes to mind when I think of entertainment in my life is BORING! HELP!!!

I would love to hear what some of you do for fun. I apparently need some new ideas.

Totally unrelated, I finished The Shack by WM. Paul Young. I can not say this was my favorite book, truthfully, I struggled reading it. However, there where some things that really made me ponder while reading it. I wouldn't tell anyone to rush out to buy it to read, but it is a book that can make you think in times of adversity. One of the lines I really liked said, "don't forget that in the midst of all your pain and heartache, you are surrounded by beauty..." That being said, I struggle with the idea of God being a women and looking like Queen Latifi, you'll have to read the book to understand what I mean.

2 Weeks

It has been 2 weeks today since I had a COKE. I can't say that I don't miss it, however, I don't miss it as much as I thought I would. Reminder to self: Water is my favorite drink!

Lame entry, but it's all I've got today.

April Snow showers bring what?

April snow showers bring May dead flowers. Is that how the rhyme goes? Seriously, snow on April 29th! Yuck

Hurray, the tooth fairy was able to find Jessy last night. Jessy left her a note letting her know that if she wasn't in her room, to check downstairs in Kassy's. The tooth fairy left Jessy a note letting her know that she had stopped by, but couldn't find her. Whew, what an ordeal, luckily we all made it through.

My eyes are swollen, puffy, and sore - ouch!

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

Even the Tooth Fairy is busy

Last night Jessy lost a tooth, she was so excited. She put her tooth under her pillow, anxiously waiting for the tooth fairy. Imagine her disappointment when she got up this morning, early, to discover the tooth fairy hadn't taken her tooth or left any money. I told her that it could have been because alot of kids lost their teeth yesterday and she wasn't able to get to everyone, even the tooth fairy get overwhelmed with all that she has to do, or that it could have been because Jessy bounces from bedroom to bedroom and the tooth fairy didn't know where to find her. No matter what the reason, we hope that she makes it to our house tonight!

2 1/2 weeks without a Coke. I've missed it, but I am coping!

Lots to do

I think the title of this blog entry is fitting for pretty much every blog entry. When do we not have lots to do?

Today is a very busy day, like most days. I really need to get my lawn mowed, my house cleaned, my dishes done, and the laundry finished. I have Activity Day Girls at 3:30 pm and book club at 7:00pm. Both of them are at my house.

Better get busy!

Lack of COKE

Thanks to all of you who shared tips ideas with me, or at least just felt sympathy for me. It's nice to now that my kids are not the only ones who fight. Sometimes it feels that way, but I realize we are all going through similar things, just on different days!

Part of my lack of tolerance could be that I have not had a COKE in over a week. Just FYI, water is my FAVORITE drink - NOT, but if I keep telling myself that, maybe one day I'll believe it. I am not saying that I am giving up COKE, that is to final for me, I am just trying to cut back. I got to the point that I had to have a COKE every day. Once 10:00am came I was out the door to get my COKE. Surprisingly I have not had a migraine, quick, quick, knock on WOOD. Will see how this cutting back thing goes. I'm hoping to at least make it to the end of April - hehe.

Favorite for today: A day of sunshine and pleasant temperatures. Tomorrow is supposed to bring more of the same, and then dang it, Wednesday it's supposed to rain, snow, and be cold. Spring in Utah.

Sunday, April 25, 2010

Oops, I can't stand it!

Ooops I missed yesterday.

I can't stand it, the fighting in my house seems to be non-stop these days, Jessy and Cody battle constantly. They are driving me CrAzY!!! I honestly don't know what to do about it. I've taken away TV time, playdates, grounded them to their rooms, even given chores. Any suggestions because next might be checking me into the funny farm! HELP?!

Weather and Twilight

It's raining it's pouring this weather is annoying.... Seriously, I don't know how much more I can take of this cold - hot - cold weather. I need something stable, like a pleasant three weeks of 75. Is that to much to ask for? However, I realize I live in Utah and I have to expect the unexpected, like snow showers in July, or 60 degree days in December. So unpredictable.

Just FYI for all of you Twilight fans, the final Eclipse trailer comes out today! I think it is airing on Oprah, I have my DVR set to record. If you miss it on Oprah, you can watch it on the web tonight. I can't wait to catch another glimpse into the world of Twilight. I hope the trailer shows something from the tent scene, that is one of my favorite chapters in the entire series.

Happy Friday!!!

It Worked

Thanks to the chocolate cake Dave did great on his test. I'm sure it had nothing to do with his hard work or the help of his awesome tutor. He only missed 2 1/2 problems. Way to go Dave!

I am so proud of Dave for going back to school. He is setting such a great example to our kids, not only is he finishing something, he is giving it his all. He gets so upset if he gets anything less than an A. He was pretty worried about this math class, but it looks as if he is going to pull at least an A-, possibly an A. Again, I am super proud of him! Unfortunately there is no rest for the weary, he has one more week in his other class, final due Sunday May 2nd, and then his next math class starts Monday May 3rd.

I was supposed to work today, I made all the arrangements for my kids for after school, and then at last minute they cancelled on me. I was kind of bummed. That seems rather odd doesn't it? 1. My work called and told me not to come in and 2. I was sad about it. Oh well, what do you do?

Tomorrow Kassy competes in her first rock climbing competition at Momentum. Maybe I should give her some chocolate cake right before she competes - lol! Good luck Kassy!

READING Update: I just started reading The Shack, it is Interesting.... I'll give more details when I am done with it. Also, just found out that two of the books I just read have sequels coming out. One in October and the other one in November. That takes care of a sequel coming out every month until 2011.

Chocolate Cake and Finals

Have you ever heard Bill Cosby's song about Chocolate Cake? It goes a little something like this, "Dad is great, he gives us chocolate cake..." I need to get my hands on it, totally busts me up. We use to listen to it when I was a kid. Bill Cosby is such a crack up!

Anyway..... Tonight Dave is taking his final in math - Lucky boy - NOT! I decided that the best way I could help is to make chocolate cake. It is cooking as I am typing. Hurray for Chocolate, it is the cure all for everything. Even better, the timer just went off, it's done. It's cooling so I can add chocolate frosting. YUMMMMMMY!

As a mom there are many things we give up (I'm not complaining). Tonight however, I was able to enjoy one of those things. Jessy and Cody were both tucked into bed, and Kassy was at Young Women's as I was making chocolate cake. Usually one of my kids gets the spatula to lick and the other two get the beaters. Tonight I was able to lick all three utensils. Oh the joy of it. Even though it was delicious for ME, I did miss my helpers. Crazy how attached you get to those darn helpers.

Good luck to Dave as he takes his math final. Thanks to a fabulous tutor, lots of Hagan Daz, cookies, treats, and now chocolate cake, he has made it to the end of this session. Unfortunately he has one more math class to take. Better load up on chocolate.

In closing, I know some of you, I won't name names (Michele), couldn't stand the fact that you didn't know what my secret was. It isn't anything terribly huge, but hopefully it will be fun for our family for the summer. We bought a ski boat, not a very big one, but still a ski boat - yeah. Maybe I can finally use my wake board that I got for Christmas three years ago, it's never been used. That is if I can still remember how to get up. I am excited to expose my kids to such a fun activity. I hope they love boating as much as Dave and I do.

Planting Done

My garden is all planted thanks to the help of my kids. Thanks guys, you were great helpers today. Wish I could say the same about Kalea. Hope the garden can survive her!

Sunburn and Secret

It was such a beautiful day today that I decided not to pick up a book, but to go outside and work in the yard. I spent several hours digging up weeds, and getting the garden area ready to plant. By the time I came in I was a little sunburned. I'm so not complaining, I love having a little sun on me. Maybe this might sound weird, or maybe I'm in line with others, but there is something about having a little color that makes me feel better about myself. Is that weird, or am I normal?

I have a secret..... tune in and I'll share in the next few days.

Sad to see it end!

This weekend has been great. The weather was beautiful, and we were able to spend a lot of time together as a family. On Saturday we got lots of yard work done. The front flower beds are all cleaned out, and the front and back lawns have been edged and mowed. After our yard work was done we went bike riding on the Jordan River Parkway. We started at 6200 South and went all the way to 9000 South. The kids did great and didn't even complain, good thing since it was their idea. Jessy had a hay fever attack on the way back and couldn't stop sneezing, but other then that it was a lot of fun. Today we made another run to the Jordan River Parkway, this time with the dog, and the kids on their scooters. Kalea is a TERRIBLE walker, she is easily distracted and yanks on her choke chain the entire time. None the less, it was great to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather and being together.

Drama Queens don't only live at my house!

Yesterday I went to drop a book off at my friends house, school had already started, however her daughter was still home. I asked her what she was doing, she told me that she hadn't been able to swallow her pill, and was having a bad day. Sounded so familiar! When her mom came in the room the daughter started whining. Her mom told her that she didn't want to talk to her at the moment and the daughter left the room in a huff! Again, sounding way to familiar. I was headed to the school, so I offered to take her daughter to school. I'm not sure who was more excited about the offer. I got a text shortly after that said, "thanks for taking my drama queen to school." I have often thought that the only drama queens, myself included, lived at our house, but apparently they are scattered all over. Who knew???

Put down the book for Spring

It was so nice outside today that I put my book down, and haven't read all day. It was great to spend time outside.

This morning I helped in Jessy's class, we practiced vocabulary words. After I was done in there, I got to go on a field trip with Cody's class to the Water Conservatory in West Jordan. It's just down the street from our house, yet I have never been there. It was a lot of fun and the kids behaved fairly well. I can't wait to go when the plants are in bloom, I bet it's beautiful!

After I was done with my "school" activities, I decided Kalea needed some time outside as well. I called my friend Kristen and we went to the Jordan River Parkway and went on a walk. It felt great to be outside enjoying the weather and getting a bit of exercise. Once I got home I still hadn't got enough outside time, so I spent the next hour and a half cleaning out flowerbeds. I love digging in my flower beds. I think digging in the dirt is therapeutic. Can't wait to plant flowers!!!!

I had to put the shovel down so I could go pick up kids from school. Yesterday I had promised them that we would go to Target after school to look for this "squirmey" things - some kind of fuzzy worm toy. We couldn't find them at Target so we ended up at good, old Walmart. Hurray, or not, they had them. The kids were so happy, apparently they find this worm things therapeutic - What ever.

Do you ever feel like you spend the afternoons driving kids around to various locations? That's what the rest of the afternoon entailed. Cody to a friends, Kassy to rock climbing. Jessy had no where to go so she decided we should take Kalea for a walk. Off we went to the Jordan River Parkway for walk number two. I am not complain, again, it felt great to be outside enjoying spring and getting exercise.

Once we got home, I couldn't wait to get my hands back in the dirt and finish cleaning out my front flower bed, it looks so pretty, with it's newly overturned dirt.

Still no time to read my book, it was after 7:00pm and my friend Stacie was having a Scentsy party. I love Scentsy's, however, I hate trying to figure out what scent I need to buy. There are so many yummy ones. I finally settled on my top three favorites and then spent the next hour and a half talking with my friend Debbie about......BOOKS. I have about five or six new ones to add to my list of "need to read".

Once I got home, I asked Cody if he had finished his homework, he said "yes". A few minutes later he came in and said, "mom, I can't lie to you, I didn't finish my homework." He and I have spent the last 30 minutes finishing homework, of course it's due tomorrow. Hurray, everyone is now in bed, Dave is doing homework, so I now have a few minutes to go READ!

Something I have learned since I started blogging: the correct spelling for tomorrow is with two "R's". Apparently I have been spelling tomorrow wrong for some time now. Thank Heavens for spell check, because of it, I now know the correct spelling of TOMORROW!

Beautiful Creatures

I finished my latestet book today, Beautiful Creatures. It was good, interesting... I can't say much more then that, because it is one of those books that you can't talk about or you ruin it for others. Honestly, it wasn't until they very end that I understood why they even named the book Beautiful Creatures. Not my favorite, but still a fun read. Moving on to the next book. I've got about ten or so books in my stack of to read pile. That doesn't include all the ones I want to read, that's just the books I have here at my house.

Favorite place to read, besides my closet. On the floor in my bedroom when the sun is shinning in.

Yummy, plus other stuff

Doctors appointment - rescheduled, Yea.
Attorney stuff - taken care of, now for the bill.
Costco Adventure with Michele - Fun, I too wish we could hang out together more.
Reading - ALWAYS! Latest book Beautiful Creatures.
Kids - All picked up and delivered home safely.
Activity Day Girls - Huge success with a recipe to share.

Today in Activity Day Girls we made, Listen to the Promptings of the Holy Ghost and Choose The Right... FUDGE! I did this activity years ago in Primary and the kids loved it. I gave the girls the opportunity to choose out of two ingredients as to what they wanted to put in the fudge. Example, cream cheese or regular cheese. While they were deciding, the Holy Ghost, aka Me, whispered in their ear what to use. It turned out great, plus in the end we had a yummy treat to eat.

This recipe is easy and tasty. It's great for outings such as camping. Hope you enjoy it!

Choose the Right....FUDGE

1 large freezer ziplock baggie
1/2 cup margarine softened
3 oz cream cheese softened
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup cocoa
3/4 bag powdered sugar

Put all ingredients in ziplock baggie. Get as much air out of the bag, then close. Squeeze baggie until ingredients are the consistency of fudge. Approx 20 min. Cut edge of baggie and squeeze fudge onto spoons to serve.

Have I ever mentioned that my favorite things are generally, fast, cheap, or easy!

What Happened?

The day started off warm and spring like. Early afternoon, more of the same. By 3:30 the storm started rolling in and by 5:00 it was cold, rainy and yucky! What happened? Oh ya, I live in Utah, and that's the way the seasons go.

I apologize for swearing on my blog. Swearing is something I try to keep under wraps. Apparently I didn't do a very good job of it! What Happened? See my post about Kalea's Graduation. My sister-in-law pointed this out to me, she herself was laughing her A... off when she called to tell me about it. The banner at Kalea Dog School say, "Dog Training Class." Apparently in every picture Kalea is sitting in front of the CL, so the banner reads, "Dog Training A...! Oops!

Kassy tried out for the talent show at school. She sang I caught myself by Paramore. I thought she did a great job but unfortunately she didn't make it. What Happened? I myself would have never been so brave. I am proud of her for trying. There's always next year...

Yesterday in Sunday School we talked about the Word of Wisdom. The topic of caffeine came up...UGH! All day yesterday I felt BLAH. What Happened? I'll tell you what happened, I didn't have a coke. Today I went to lunch with Angela and Tiffaney - Five Guys - Yummy, I had 32 oz of Coke, man did it taste GOOD. Amazingly I didn't feel like Blah today. Hmmmm!

What Happened in your world today???

Favorite Sister: Jennifer - hehehe. Does that count cause I only have one sister!

Graduation Day

It's been a really busy day that has included sleepovers, going to two baptisms, dropping kids off at parties, playing with friends, washing cars, cleaning house, doing laundry, grocery shopping, and Dave skiing. Among all of that craziness, we managed to fit in an outing for Kalea as well. Today she graduated from Dog School!

Congratulations Kalea, we are so proud of you. Is she the perfect dog and super well behaved - NO. However, she is doing much better and we will continue to work with her. Sometimes we forget she is just a puppy, doing puppy things.

Some of Kalea's favorite things to do when we are not around are:
*Find a shoe, not to chew on, just to hold.
*Roll on any ones clothes who might be on the floor, or grab there clothes and put them on the floor.
*Get one of Jessy's stuffed animals and lick it until it is super slobbery.

Like I said, still not perfect, but we are working on it.
Kalea has brought a lot of interesting challenges into our lives, but boy do we love her. Now if she would just stop shedding!

"Sit Kalea. STAY! What a good girl!"

Cody was so excited that he got to come to Kalea's graduation. By the way he took all the pictures except this one.

"Lay down, good girl."
"I said sit down!"

Congratulations Dog School Graduate!

Bragging About Kassy - Lion of the Quarter

I am going to brag about Kassy! At school today, she was honored with an award, Lion of the Quarter. Many of you might not no what that is, to be honest I didn't either until a week ago when we got a call from the school letting us know that Kassy was getting it. It is a prestigious award that is given at West Jordan Middle School. One of your teachers nominates you to receive the award, and then at least half of your teachers must agree that you deserve it. Your name can be vetoed out by other teachers as well. This award is given out every quarter to six kids, three girls and three boys, from each grade. There are approximately 950 students at West Jordan Middle School. You may only get this award once during your time in Junior High, that means your chances of getting this award are pretty slim. Kassy, along with all the other kids were called down to the office and told that they needed to report to the Media Center. Kassy, as would most junior high students, wondered if she was in trouble for something. (Not like Kassy has ever gotten in trouble at school. Home, now that's a totally different blog entry!) As the kids walked into the Media center, they were greeted by friends and family applauding them. Most of them, including Kassy, where completely surprised. A few words were said, introducing the program, and then a breakfast in their honor was provided. After breakfast there was an award ceremony. Each of the kids received an award, a bag of treats, and a booklet made specifically for them. The booklet has a letter from each of their teachers as well as one from their parents, congratulating them on there accomplishments. Their pictures are taken by a professional and are displayed in a case at the school until the next students are chosen. A lot of time and energy goes into this, it really is a BIG deal. This award is not about good grades, however that does help, it's about being an all around good student. Even though I already knew Kassy was a great girl, it's nice to know that others think that of her as well. I want to share what was written about Kassy, to introduce her. It says: WJMS Lion of the Quarter - 3rd Quarter 2009-2010 Kassy Fagg has a gift for kindness, which truly adds to her classes here at West Jordan Middle School. Kassy helps other students in her classes and works well with others. Kassy is a hard working student, dedicated to doing her best. Kassy is planning ahead for her future by setting high goals for herself now. Kassy realizes that who she is now makes a difference in where she'd like to be, and she is working hard to get there. These are a few of the nice things her teachers said about her. Mind you, I am only writing down a few of them. *You are a great student who is truly deserving of this honor. - Miss Geilman *Remember who you are makes a difference. - Ms. Nielson *You are a very hard working student, dedicated to doing your best. - Mr. Zander *You always seem to have a positive attitude and are a great role model to others. - Mrs. Bailey *You are on the path towards a successful life. - Mrs. Brumfield *You continue to amaze us.... Dad and Mom Hurray for Kassy for getting this award her first year in Junior High. We are so proud of her, and know that she is working hard so that she can make her future bright. Way to go Kassy Bug, or as you would say, "You Rock"!

The kids coming in, they were so sure they were all in trouble.
